What is ZoneX?

ZoneX is a ventilatory threshold measurement device designed for sports professionals (coaches, professional teams, specialty stores, gyms, etc.).

It measures real-time gas exchange to determine ventilatory thresholds (VT1 & VT2), MAS/MAP, and training zones.

It brings lab-grade precision to the field—with no complex setup required.

A Complete Software Suite

During the test, data is displayed in real time: exhaled air volume, breathing rate, CO₂ production equivalent, heart rate, speed or power output, and more.

At the end of the test, ZoneX automatically calculates ventilatory thresholds and generates a visual summary of the results, including VT1 and VT2 (for submaximal tests) and MAS/MAP (for maximal tests).

A dedicated dashboard for coaches and professionals is available to track and review the full history of past tests.

Making Testing Accessible to All!

ZoneX uses a patented optical CO₂ sensor, eliminating the need for chemical sensors, gas bottles, and complex calibrations. Lightweight, portable, and consumable-free, it’s simple to use and cost-effective.

It replaces traditional lactate testing by removing blood sampling, eliminating consumables, and reducing test stages to just 1 minute—delivering fast, reliable, and actionable results anywhere, without the need for specialized staff.

Test protocol

Warm-up phase

  • 5 minutes at low intensity

Progressive effort phase

  • Start at a moderate intensity

  • Increase speed (running) or power (cycling) in 1-2 minute increments

  • Each level should gradually increase the load by approximately 10 to 20 watts (cycling) or 0.5 to 1 km/h (running)

  • The test is submaximal, that is to say that it is enough to exceed threshold 2 a little. With practice, it is possible to see this on the signals which are displayed in real time during the test.

Why Knowing Your Thresholds Matters

Optimize Training Intensity

Ventilatory thresholds help define precise training zones (aerobic, threshold, anaerobic), allowing you to target the right energy systems based on your goals. This avoids over- or under-training and maximizes physiological adaptations.

100% Personalized

No more guesswork. No two athletes are the same. Your thresholds are unique—just like your body’s response to training. With ZoneX, you get personalized data based on your own physiology, helping you tailor your training plan and progress faster.

Improve Endurance and Delay Fatigue

Training around VT1 enhances aerobic efficiency, while working near VT2 increases your tolerance for high-intensity efforts. Knowing these thresholds helps you delay fatigue and improve performance over longer efforts.

Track Progress Objectively

With ZoneX, you gain access to clear, measurable indicators of progress. Your thresholds evolve with your training, giving you a reliable way to assess improvement over time—no assumptions, just data.

Smarter training starts here

PAIRFS integrates lab-quality breath analysis into your workouts, giving you real-time data to train smarter, recover better, and reach your peak performance—every session, every breath.
