The wearables industry has grown considerably in recent years for sports, health, and well-being. Respiration, which is central to our physiology, remains largely untapped for this purpose because the gas sensors currently on the market are completely unsuitable for this measurement.
PAIRFS is developing its own gas sensor technology for wearables, leveraging the global excellence of the Grenoble ecosystem in this area to become the missing player in this industry.
Meet the team
PAIRFS was founded by Pierre and Julien, two entrepreneurs from the Grenoble ecosystem with extensive experience in the wearables, gas sensor, and innovative technology industries.
Founder
Pierre Jallon
Pierre was CTO at eLichens, a startup specializing in gas sensors, from 2019 to 2024. Between 2014 and 2019, he was head of the "wearables" activity at CEA LETI.
The PAIRFS project aims to create a major player in respiration analysis in the wearables industry, so it is a completely natural continuation in his career.
Pierre is also passionate about ultra-endurance sports, including mountain biking and road cycling.

Julien Mottin
An engineer and endurance enthusiast, Julien has more than 15 years of experience in deeptech, sensor development, and embedded software.

Before joining PAIRFS, he contributed to the success of several innovation projects—taking them from R&D through to industrialization—in imaging and computer vision.

Today, he applies his technical skills to create reliable, accessible, and valuable performance tools for breath analysis.
An innovative technology to make respiratory analysis simple & accessible
The wearables industry has grown significantly over the past 15 years. However, breath analysis remains an underdeveloped field; commercially available gas sensors are particularly unsuitable for this use case and require heavy and complicated systems to take accurate measurements.
