How to analyze the data to determine ventilatory thresholds?

  1. Use the software's automatic analysis.

By clicking "Analyze data," the algorithm will offer you three possible analyses. Each analysis may provide several results that you must analyze manually. You can use the algorithm in three ways:

  1. Define the area of effort

Reposition the start and end of the test using the black vertical bars.

The start of the effort is at the end of the warm-up. It is characterized by a stability of the expiratory volume (VE).

The end of the effort is just before the drop in all ventilatory markers.

  1. Determine the SV2:

Select the red vertical bar and move it from left to right to adjust the SV2.

Observe the CO2 equivalence (pink curve). SV2 is located at the time of the sharp increase in CO2 eq (break in slope), towards the end of the effort.

Feel free to smooth the data to better see the changes in slope.

Observation d'une rupture de pente de l'Eq CO2.

After these two steps, the search range for the SV1 is smaller.

  1. Determine SV1:

Use the green vertical bar to position the SV1.

SV1 is characterized by a break in the slope of the Expiratory Volume (VE). Use the "Adjust SV1" tab to better visualize the VE and this break. The blue and green lines should adhere to the data in addition to the slope break.

Use the current volume (VC) as a guide; it increases along with the VE.

Exemple : la rupture de pente est bien visible et les droites correspondent bien aux données.
